دکتر نوید نوروزی

Dr. Noroozi received his PhD degree in Electrical Engineering from Shiraz University, Iran, in 2014. He joined the Electrical Engineering Department of Sheikh Bahaei University, Iran, in August 2014, where he was an Assistant Professor until August 2016. Dr Noroozi was awarded the Humboldt Fellowship for Postdoctoral Researchers from the Alexander von Humboldt Foundation in 2015. He is currently a Humboldt Research Fellow at the Dynamical Systems Chair of Passau University, Germany. His research interests include nonlinear control theory with a focus on hybrid control systems and large-scale systems.

In contrast to classic Lyapunov functions, so-called finite-step Lyapunov functions are energy functions which do not have to decay at each time step, but only after a fixed and finite number of steps. This relaxation, in particular, leads to significant contributions in the context of analysis and design of large-scale control systems. In this talk, we will introduce the notion of finite-step ω-ISS Lyapunov functions. In particular, we provide Lyapunov characterizations of ISS w.r.t. closed sets for discrete-time systems. Unlike classic converse Lyapunov theorems, we give some new converse Lyapunov functions which are constructive in the sense that they are useful for the controller design purposes. Applications of the results to incremental stability and consensus problem will be discussed.
