The Electrical Machines I laboratory at the Isfahan University of Technology is a well-equipped laboratory for both teaching and research activities. The purpose of this lab is to give students hands-on experience in AC and DC machines.
The main objectives of Electrical Machines lab I
- To learn more about major types of DC generators and to study the output characteristics of these generators,
- To learn more about major types of DC motors and to study the output characteristics of these motors,
- To study single-phase transformers’ parameter identification
- To investigate starting and speed control methods of three-phase induction motors, both squirrel cage and wound rotor.
List of Experiments
- Determination of magnetic characteristic (no-load curve) of the DC machine
- Investigation of separately excited and shunt DC generator
- Investigation of compound DC generator
- Investigation of different DC motors characteristics
- Determination of DC machines efficiency using direct and indirect methods
- Investigation of single-phase transformers
- Investigation of the IM starting current and torque, as well as machine speed control using star-delta and V/F constant methods
- Investigation of the wound rotor IM starting current and torque as well as machine speed control using rotor resistance variation and changing the applied voltage
