Electrical Machines Laboratory II

Level begin

The Electrical Machines I laboratory at the Isfahan University of Technology is a well-equipped laboratory for both teaching and research activities. The purpose of this lab is to give students hands-on experience in AC and DC machines.

The main objectives of the electrical machines lab II are as below:

  1. To learn about major types of AC generators (including three-phase synchronous and induction generators),
  2. To study the main characteristics of AC generators,
  3. To learn about major types of AC motors (including three-phase synchronous motors, single-speed, and variable speed induction motors, and variable poles IMs),
  4.  To study the ‎main characteristics of AC motors
  5. To study three-phase transformers parameter identification and testing with three-phase resistive – capacitive, balanced and unbalanced loads

List of Experiments

  1. Investigation of synchronous machines main characteristics and the principle of operation
  2. Investigation of the grid-connected synchronous generator
  3. Investigation of three-phase induction motor characteristics
  4. Investigation of squirrel cage induction motor with variable pole numbers
  5. Investigation of asynchronous generator
  6. Investigation of the asynchronous frequency converter
  7. Three-phase transformer testing with different loads
  8. Investigation of commutation event and armature reaction in a dc machine
